Get Familiar With Connie Diiamond; The Rapper From The Bronx With Hard-Hitting Raps

Connie Diiamond, the female rapper coming out of the Bronx has been in the game now for a minute. Writing poetry since she was a teenager, it then influenced her into creating them into raps. That’s where the music was created.

She has kept at it since and has remixed multiple tracks including freestyles to, Drake’s Summer Sixteen, Young Thug’s Hercules, Future’s F*ck Up Some Commas, A$AP Mob’s Hella Hoes and more. Ultimately, Connie Diiamond is the Queen of rap covers, but brings her own twist to her favourites.

Below, I got the chance to chat with Connie Diiamond on a variety of topics. Including her inspirations, thoughts on females in the industry, XXXTENTACION, her WINTRBREAK EP that was recently released and more.

What was your inspiration to start creating music?
I have been creating since I was 14 years old. It originally started off as poetry.
Big influences were family members and seeing other artists such as; Remy Ma , Dipset & Jadakiss

How did you link up with rappers such as Ms. Banks, Bali Baby, Asian Doll, and Billy B? Are females in the industry empowering each other enough?
Ahaha, Ms. Banks, I met In London. I was headlining a show at the XOYO venue, and she had a show that wasn’t too far away, so I pulled up to support. She’s cool AF, and very humble. Billyb, my fellow Taurus gang member! We linked on Instagram and been cool ever since. The other two… I don’t deal with. What we started was a business relationship that went left. If I were a clout chaser, I would go deeper into it but, I’m off… I have been off that.

Speaking of other female artists, I noticed you recently just performed Azealia Banks back in August. How was that experience for you?
The experience was crazy! Love her down! She’s cool AF and she is truly somebody that believes in me, and I appreciate her more than ever for that. She has presented numerous opportunities for me and even dropped gems on the industry. Consider her fam!

How do you ultimately decide which tracks to cover to put your twist on them?
I’m always looking for new sounds. I try to challenge my self by seeing if I can keep up, then I add a ” Connie Diiamond” twist to it.

Your WINTR BREAK EP was just released about a month ago. Your first track is a FUCK LOVE remix of XXXTENTACION’s track featuring Trippie Redd. What do you like so much about XXXTENTACION and do you think he deserves more credit for his music?
I personally love his music, but his name has a lot of controversy to it. I love him so much because he is fearless. He does what he wants. You can tell he isn’t pulling any
stunts for clout. I also feel like he is very creative and super emo and I love anything emo.

Anybody who listens to you can hear that you have intense, aggressive, hard-hitting energy and lyrical content. Where does this stem from (besides being from Brooklyn,
I’m not from Brooklyn, I’m from the Bronx, but that basically stems from my passion.

What do you love doing more – hair or creating music?
I love them both equally, but I’m starting to get bored with hair now

Has any rapper ever reached out to you about remixing their track(s)? If so, who?
Nobody has ever! Lol would be cool though!

I know a lot of your style inspiration comes from Missy Elliot. Would you say her music influences yours too? What rappers inspire you?
Missy was influential in a stylish way, and just by being confident. Remy Ma was truly inspirational. She was hardcore, and she was from the Bronx. Other rappers that influence me are; Asap Ferg, XXX, Drake, Pnb rock… not too many newbies.
